Summer Safety Tips

Summertime has officially begun! While we are already planning our vacation and the fun activities that we'll be doing with our families, friends and furry friends, let us not forget that our dogs may require some special needs during this season!

Here are some of the top summer tips that could help us in having a worry-free and fun summer with our dogs!

1. Exercise or have your daily walks early in the morning or late at night, since these are the cooler parts of the day. The temperature is comfortable enough for you and your dogs and maybe you can lessen the intensity of your exercise at this time of the year!

2. Watch out for signs of dehydration. These could be seen through the following; they could be lethargic, eyes will be bloodshot and appear a little pale and the skin loses its elasticity.

3. Keep them hydrated! Dogs need water and hydration support supplements will really help in keeping them well-hydrated during this coming hot days.

4. Find creative ways to cool your dog. Keeping the air conditioning unit or fans on 24/7 will really be costly so you can either make them a cool or icy treat to keep them cool and hydrated during the summer months!

5. Dogs cool from bottom up. Make sure you mist or wipe their paws and stomach with a wet towel as well as their whole body.

6. Never leave your dog in a parked car even if it's on a shade as cars retain more heat plus it can cause stress and panic to your dog when you leave them in a very small closed area.

7. Make this an excuse to try out different water activities with your dogs, but keep in mind their safety especially when you take them to the beach!

Don't let the temperature hinder you and your pooches in having a grand time but make sure that you keep them safe, healthy and secure the whole time!

Pro Dog-a-Holic has a lot of summer activities lined up for all its members so stay tuned and hope to see you and your furry little friends there!

Manalo K9 Technologies International was established in 2007. The company is the country’s #1 K9 exporter, specializing in explosive detection dogs and patrol dogs. Manalo K9 has sent many trained working dogs to Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and the USA to work for security, police and military clients.

Manalo K9 has also been doing research and development to produce top-quality dog supplies. The Superdog Soap, a 5-in-1 skin and coat care soap and a product of Manalo K9, is a joint project of the research and development teams of Manalo K9 and El Natures Herbal Soap, which is the company that owns the Biolink soap brand and the producer of the Shopwise brand of soaps. A Furry Kind of Love

"A Furry Kind of Love," a Valentines' event for dogs and their parents, was held last February 16 at the Alabang Town Center.

Hosted and organized by Alabang Town Center and Paws & Tails Grooming Salon and Boutique, "A Furry Kind of Love" was a day of bonding and fun for everyone! Pet parents were able to enjoy their time with their furkids on a post Valentines' Day date!

Pro Dog-a-Holic supported the event in full force, along with Dog Owners Group Philippines, NavPack, and Bulacan Dog Walkers.

The bazaars of the sponsors opened by 10AM, along with the booth for KriZara Photography, who took and printed out photos for the event attendees for free! Also opening in the morning was the free veterinary consultation and anti-rabies vaccination sponsored by Studz 'n Bitzes Pet's Pad. Attendees were also invited to play mini-games prepared by PDH, namely the Pink-Chinko, Zappy Maze, and Wear it to Win it.

The first major contest was held, the Search for the Magic Amber Brand Model 2014, which was a best pet coat beauty contest. The winner received 12 bottles of Magic Amber.

The winners of Shower of Love and the post Doggie Day Up The Hills event promo, both photo-liking contests, were also announced, winning Saint Roche Premium Organic Dog Shampoo products and Nutrience Philippines gift packs.

The last contest for the event, the King & Queen of Hearts Best Date Couple, showcased dogs with their parents in a Valentines' fashion show.
